This winter, Big Shoulders Realty is letting YOU pick the rides for our Winter Cycling Series.

You can pick from the eight tours of the past two years for the November, December, January and February tours. Here are options:

Jefferson Park
Austin
Hyde Park
North Center
West Town
North Park
Lincoln Square

The ride dates and times are as follows:



Saturday November 28, 2009 at 1:00 PM
Saturday December 19, 2009 at 1:00 PM
Saturday January 30, 2010 at 1:00 PM
Saturday February 27, 2010 at 1:00 PM


Please note, as always it is the last Saturday of the month for the winter WITH THE EXCEPTION of December due to holidays and such.

I was sort of wondering when a Norwood Park tour was going to happen. Has there been one in the past?

Norwood Park will be in next year's regular season and no we did not do it yet. I did a vote your ride instead as I knew I wouldn't have adequate time to do a tour that month. We re-ran Avondale that month instead.

Irving Park did not make an appearance because we did it on last year's winter cycling series. I wanted to do rides that we had only run 1 time. All of the 8 are from these last two seasons and had not been repeated as a vote your ride or last year's winter cycling series.

I've never attended but it sounds fun. What are these rides like?

In essence, they are architectural tours of different Chicago communities. We cover the history of the area, the major buildings, who built them, what styles are there and why, etc. We don't go in places, just see them from the outside. Rides range in size from a couple of dozen riders to nearly 150. Pace is casual, and the rides are very social. You can take virtual tours of most of last year's rides here:

Does anyone else want to answer/expand on this? I feel a bit biased.

Hey everyone,

Thanks all for voting.....halfway through the month and the early leaders are Lincoln Square, Uptown/Andersonville, West Town and Hyde Park. Here is a pie chart representing proportional voting.
