The Chainlink

So I've noticed the pool lanes are more crowded which reminds me I need to get a little more serious than just splashing around to be ready for triathlon season.

Anyone know of or have a favorite recommendation for a group to train with?

I'm not super fast but..... I like to dream: )

There is a masters swim group at the McGaw YMCA in Evanston that seems to be populated mostly by triathletes.

Thanks. My boyfriend and I live in the city though. I'll keep it in mind though.

Chicago Tri Club has a newbies group as well as a more advanced group to train with.  I've always heard good things about them.

Check out the training programs at Well-Fit.

Their Chicago training program will provide weekly coached sessions to improve your technique and a daily training plan to keep you focused so you have a great race.

Lifetime sponsors open water clinics during the summer. Can't wait for the ITU in June.

Fleet Foot also does some open water swim by Oak St. Beach. Closer to Chicago Tri time though.

Ohh! All very good. I think I could do a little of each. June sounds too cold for the water. Brrr. (I'm a scardie of the water. lol) Thanks!!

Do you have a race in mind to train for? I know there are a number of programs that are set up to work for certain races depending on the timeline.

Rowfit Chicago has a great tri group that non-members can join - there is a group training for the Racine Half right now (which I am doing) that is pay-by-month. Then there is a program that will start up to train for Athleta Pleasant Prairie (August) and Lake Geneva later in the season.

I also have friends doing the well-fit program and they really like it. That is more pay by whole session which varies depending on the race.

Or there is the all year round swim Lake Michigan group:

And be hardcore wetsuit ready. They meet up by north beach.

Agreed!! Contact Coach Chris Navin, tell him Bill Nedza sent you!

Chicago Tri Club is always fun!

LOL all year round swim!  Seriously??!!  That sounds like a good Instagram but I don't think I will be joining them IN the water. ROTFL  Glad to hear they wear wetsuits.

I'm going to brave the Chi Tri and maybe a women's only race. : )
