I've recently started getting into transportation data and exploring ways that I can use open web technologies to improve transportation in Chicago. I'm a web nerd and I do some programming, design, web project coordination, etc. Right now, I'm looking at ways to visualize different transportation data sets and thinking a lot about what applications could be built to support bike/ped/transit in our fine city.

I'm curious if there are any other geeks or geek-curious types out there who are interested in getting involved and/or folks who have worked on similar projects. I recently started a Google Group for transportation geeks in Chicago to discuss these projects, and anyone here is welcome to join.

I'd also love to hear your thoughts related to the intersection of Chicago transportation, programming, and data visualizations.
