We're looking for opportunities for a club member to take the Traffic Safety 101 on-bike session on a Saturday in the Chicagoland area this fall, as a first step towards becoming the only active LCI in the state capital. He'd be taking the classroom part online. Springfield is 200 miles away, so that's his only option. Links and ideas welcome!

Best regards,

While Larry's e-mail refers to LCI training, he probably knows what Traffic Skill classes are scheduled in the area.

Thanks Julie. I tried contacting Larry via the Forum, I'll try his email.

It appears TS 101 is scheduled by LCIs through various local venues, and that the national LAB calendar has problems and is not widely used. This makes finding options to take this pre-LCI-training requirement a challenge.

Thanks Larry. Sent you an email. Thanks for the heads up, Julie.

Hi Tom,

There are 2 Traffic Skills classes scheduled in the Chicago area right now:

Aug 22, 24, 26 in Batavia, and Sept 20 in Elk Grove Village.  Both are listed on the LAB site.

I hope to see 1 or 2 more TS 101 classes scheduled in the near future.

Meanwhile, it may be possible to arrange something closer to home for your club member.  Drop me an email

larry@chicagobicycle.org

Unfortunately, LAB is still having problems with their new web site.

When a Traffic Skills class shows a Registration Not Allowed notice, it means there is no on line registration.  A Registration Closed notice is an error.

If you would like to attend one of them, register with the instructor by email or with the hosting organization.

We hope to schedule several more Traffic Skills 101 classes around Chicago this year.
