The Chainlink

First, two months ago the city repaved Clark Street from Diversey all the way up to Addison I guess as part of the sewer project. The bike lane was enlarged with the double stripe on the traffic side.  It is a joy to bike this stretch now!  The ride is faster, smoother, and I feel a lot safer as I feel that drivers more clearly see the large lane. The biggest problem left are all these  people who temporarily park in these lanes.

And yesterday, they also "double marked" the lane on Franklin in the loop..complete with the illustrations of biker.  It was wonderful biking home on that strip..again I felt much safer.  In general, the loop along with Lincoln Ave. are the only parts of the city where I ride and feel I have to be extra careful.

Not sure who made these changes happen but they've made my commute much more comfortable and I expect safer.

You can thank Commissioner Gabe Klein and Mayor Emmanuel at the Dearborn Bike Lane Opening Ceremony today at 1PM at 700 S Dearborn.

If Randy Neufeld is there he'd be a good person to hug too.

I have it on good authority that Randy will be riding down for the ceremony.

Julie,

Randy's plan is to leave SRAM HQ at 1333 N Kingsbury at 12:30 and trundle on down to be at the Plaza at 1:00 p.m.  If you want to join in the fun, feel free!!  For that matter, if any Chainlinkers want to join us, the more the merrier.

I have to stop by some bike shops before then, but I think that may just work.
