I am thinking of getting a new tattoo. Anyone have suggestions on shops and know the rates?

What kind of tattoo are you thinking of getting? I went to Robin at Metamorph (http://www.metamorphstudios.com/solokill.html) and will go back to her for future tattoos. She's amazing, but obviously her style may not be for everyone / every subject. I think her rate was somewhere in the vicinity of $150/hr, but I'm not sure.

Hope it helps.
Deluxe Tattoo on Irving Park. Get Ben Wahhh. Check

Best tattoo experience i've had of the 4 I've gotten. 4 different shops. The last will be the final shop for any further tattoo's. (It's the Chinese Phoenix tattoo and Kanji - check my profile for pics.)
Definitely check out deluxe. I've heard amazing things and have seen first hand some of the AMAZING work that comes out of there. I've also heard good things about some of the people at a shop called tomato. But I'd highly recommend shopping around. Just go in a look at portfolio's. Talk to artists. Tell them what your thinking and listen to what the say in reply. You need to find an artist you can communicate with and that you feel comfortable with getting your ideas across to. Once you've found a couple artists, ask around again and find out what people say about them. Narrow it down from there.

As for price, it really depends on the detail of the piece and the size as well. Ask for some quotes when you're checking out some shops. But be ready to fork up some cash. As they say, 'good bikes aren't cheap, and cheap bikes aren't good.' The same goes for tattoos!
Deluxe.
Deluxe--Jason Vaughn. Here's a pic of the bike tattoo he did for me. I've also got a 3/4 sleeve by Jason and am in the process of getting a large lower back/hip/abdomen piece. I think he's among the top 5 artists in the city, and he's relatively new, so he's not as pricey as some others.

Disclaimer: he's my neighbor and co-owner, he does good work
Stacey that's awesome art! ;-) I love all the votes for Deluxe! I'm not related nor do i own stock I just had such a good experience after 3 bad ones! ;-)
If you're willing to drive, Sure Fire Tattoos in Lynwood IL. Ask for Wendall. His shading is outstanding.
does anyone have a good tattoo image of a bike? simple simple. just black. a small bicycle.
Bek Huston, who owns Heathen Ink in Summit, does excellent work, and is quite reasonable. My wife has got her last three from Bek. Deluxe also does great work (my wife has one from Ben). Bek is a pretty avid bicyclist herself.
