Suspensions for Levi Leipheimer, Christian Vande Velde, David Zabriskie, Tom Danielson, Michael Barry and George Hincapie

After reading Tyler Hamilton's book, this news does not come as a shock:

just disappointment that these guys were involved in this.

Yawn.

I like the idea of The Tour not having ANY winner for those years from which Lance's titles are stripped.

Maybe they shouldn't even hold these event if they can't figure out if the people were cheating or not for a decade or so after the races are done.

What's more of a failure?  The cheaters, or the idiots at the various ADA's who can't seem to catch them doing it to the point that everyone has to cheat just to have a chance to win?   If those folks would have been doing their jobs in the first place then it never would have gotten to this point.

What should we expect when we try to turn something beautiful such as cycling into a competition?

So Lance lied and took EPO -big deal!  Can't say that I'm surprised, and I'm sure there isn't one pro cyclist who is completely clean!   But Hincapie, Hamilton, et al are all a bunch of cock-suckers!  Why wait until now to tell the truth???

The problem with blaming the testers is the dopers (and their doctor's and chemists) were coming with new stuff all the time....  The new designer drugs were always a step ahead of the testers....  They can always come back and retest old blood (for a number of years) later when new tests can catch the older drugs....  But by then, there are new drugs....  Also, some drugs could be masked by the body if the rider was smart enough to use them "properly...."  The issue between Landis and Lance was that Landis allowed himself to dehydrate, which elevated the levels of the drug to the point that he got caught....  If he wouldn't have dehydrated so much, he would not have gotten caught....  Lance blamed Landis for allowing himself to get caught....  When the heat was on Landis, he cracked and broke the silent "code" and pointed a finger at Lance to try and deflect some of the heat he was taking....

What a bunch of bullshit !

If it weren't for cycle racing bicycles would probably still be Penny-Farthings or at least be heavy pieces of garbage that nobody would want to ride.

Competition drives advances in technology and design.  Competition drives sales of niche items like cycles when things like cheap automobiles takes away buyers who no longer are interested in working to get get from point A to point B.

Sure, there were times when bike booms brought back bicycles into the public eye as a popular transportation form.   But if it wasn't for the racers and the sport cyclists, who kept buying and riding bikes during those off-peak times, things would be a lot different.

Greg....  That's wide open....  Which part were you referring to????
