The Chainlink

Chainlinkers:

Chicago is taking a huge step towards becoming the most bicycle-friendly city in the country with the installation of the first half-mile of protected bikeways on Kinzie Street. Thank you for being part of the movement that has made this possible!

Active Trans has launched the Neighborhood Bikeways Campaign to rally Chicagoans in support of a 100-mile network of protected bikeways by 2015. We believe that new innovative bikeways will make our streets safer and make bicycling a more viable transportation choice for all Chicagoans.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and new CDOT commissioner Gabe Klein already share our goals for safer bikeways. But the mayor and CDOT acting alone will not be enough! Community support—your support—will be essential if our vision is to be realized. The Neighborhood Bikeways Campaign is organizing supporters in Chicago neighborhoods and building aldermanic support across the city to move bikeway projects forward. These next few months are critical. We need to follow on the success of the first half-mile on Kinzie with a push for the next 25 miles.

Please join the movement to make Chicago the most bicycle-friendly city in the nation by making an online contribution today. All donors receive:

-- a complimentary Active Trans membership

-- discounts at more than 100 businesses and bike shops across the region

-- with a $30 donation or more, receive the seven-county Chicagoland Bike Map

-- with a $250 donation or more, we will recognize your support on the campaign website

Join our campaign today at http://www.activetrans.org/bikeways .

Thanks!
