I use some single bike wall mounted hangers by Gear Up. the arms are fully adjustable and will accomodate all kinds of different geometry frames. purchased at Get A Grip Cycles in Chicago.

still undecided if I should hang the bottom bike or not...

Nice set-up (and nice bikes!)... though I wonder how you reach that top bike. ;-) At the moment I'm in an apartment and drilling into the plaster walls isn't my preferred option.

I have used a single bike stand by Sinz that I like -- but that's only one bike....

thanks! standing on a step stool and grabbing it by the bottom bracket works out just fine.

Great bikes, Jamie - like art! Those must be some high ceilings there. Did those mounts come with the necessary hardware to attach to brick?

I keep on thinking about something like this, leaning against a wall. Does anyone have any experience with something along those lines?

thanks y'all. the top bike is the latest addition (huge christmas present to myself)... definitely super stoked to get it out on the road soon. for the winter, I pretty much stick with the surly.

the racks did not come with hardware for brick walls... just had to make a quick trip to home depot.

I would highly not recommend hanging bikes from the ceiling by hooks not in beams or studs. . . I slightly grazed the frame already hanging from a loose hook and it came down on my shoulder, chainring first. . . The wheels were off, so it didn't have quite enough weight to make it to the bone. . .

Terry, I have one like it but mine is homemade from wood. I have felt glued onto a cutout on the arms where it holds the bike frames and where the stand leans on the wall. I have some rubber under the bottom to keep from slipping and protect the floor. It's served me well through five years and four moves. It's easy to adjust or take apart because it's just bolts and wing nuts. I'd attach a photo, but I'm away from home for the day. If you have the tools and you're able, i'd recommend the diy way, otherwise i would imagine that the metal version would work out well, too.

I use my enclosed front porch to store my two bikes and use these rolling wheel holders that hold the front or back wheel. They do a great job of holding the bike up right while allowing me to roll the bike where I want. They sell for around $25 all over.

Hi Sarah,
Your story about building your stand reminded me of what I did when I was a kid. I took a bunch of 2x4 cuttings and put together a kind of adjustable workstand with a pair of those big bike hook screws, in the family garage. I'm sure it wasn't quite as elegant as yours, and definitely not movable.

I'm looking at this wood beam in a bit of exposed wall here in my apartment...hmm..... There's this big bookshelf there. meh. I like books, I even know how to read some of them! I'm up to the 20th letter of the alphabe--wha goes here?
