The Chainlink

My tall-bike was stolen (or possibly removed byt he city). If you see it please call 224-628-3789 and let me know where you saw it and, if possible, put a lock on it. It has full fenders, full length seat stays and is much nicer then your average tall-bike making it easily identifiable as mine. Rear wheel a functional SA 3-spd hub laced to a CR18 rim in the back.

I know a lot of people consider tall bikes junk but this is my primary bike and I miss it greatly.

As much as I love the rest of the bike I really want that damn wheel back!

Oops, sorry! I saw the listing but totally missed that it was a tall bike.
I always see one parked at . . . Leavitt and something; maybe a bar at Leavitt and Chicago? Was that yours?
I wouldn't be so sure that it will be sold for scrap metal. I know some Junkeros and when they get something that has value beyond the metal they try to sell it around their 'hood for more than they'd get for scrap-- and since the economy tanked the price of metal has gone way way down.
Have you thought about a trip to the scrap yard near Elston/Division next Monday morning?

Actually I did list it on the stolen bike registry...

It was at Leavitt and Augusta but as I said above it's all a moot point because it was spotted in a scrap truck so it's a pretty likely it is gone forever.

Doug's a pretty sharp cookie.
I'm guessing there's some sort of strategizing behind not giving any more info than what's here and not listing it on the stolen bike registry.

where did you leave it?
this sucks - sorry Doug.

this is almost like a death in the 'family' - I loathe bike thiefs
