Just a heads-up to all my fellow riders to stay vigilant in the extreme temps - we had a bike stolen from inside the open-for-business Old Town School (my workplace) in Lincoln Square late morning today.

The few winter riders tend to bring our bikes indoors in the super-cold, and one bike was taken and wheeled out the back door - while many folks worked, played music, and danced in the building.

A stolen bike registry entry and police report were filed. Video surveillance is helpful to a point, stills given to police. Mostly, this was a real bummer for my colleague. Polar Vortex does not stop the baddies. Lock 'em up, friends.

horrible.

Unbelievable. What's wrong with people?

As I pack up to leave, and go to my cold-cold bicycle that's been sitting outside, I wonder if I'd be able to resist the temptation of a bike with a warm saddle...

Kevin, I have already told you how to warm up a saddle - handwarmer + sheepskin seat cover. It's a sort of creepy magic.
