The Chainlink

Hi everyone, I'm posting because my favorite bike was stolen earlier this week and a friend of mine suggested posting it here. I've already posted on craigslist and the stolen bike registry but I figured more eyes are more! It disappeared Tuesday night around midnight from Monroe and Wabash. It was locked properly to a bike hoop with a short U-lock, and a cable securing the front wheel.

The bike is a Voodoo Nakisi 62cm frame with a brown Brooks saddle and dark green bar tape, frame serial # M10051591. SRAM Apex brake/shift levers, X7 front/Apex rear drivetrain, disc brakes, weird drop bars that flare out to the sides, front and rear racks, and a double-leg kickstand. It's a pretty distinctive bike so it ought to stand out. Below are a couple photos; it doesn't have the front rack yet in these pictures, or the bar tape in one of them, but you get the idea.

If you see it around please content me! I really want the bike back -- I put it together last spring and did RAGBRAI with it this past summer, and it disappearing makes me very sad. Thanks -

Dan

Sorry to hear about your bike. I will keep an eye out for it.

Road bike, downtown, cut U-lock: good candidate for Swap-O-Rama this Saturday and Sunday.

Probably would make sense to link to your http://stolenbike.org listing (or just tell people to look there) so people actually have a way to contact you if they do encounter it.

Good point, thanks -- the stolenbike.org listing is http://chicago.stolenbike.org/node/191973.

So sorry to hear about your bike.  Maybe having a less common frame will make it easier to spot.

That's right across from my office building, even with a heavy duty chain I'm always concerned about locking my bike up outside while I'm at work.

rare one ...that VooDoo is. It won't get past me without me noticing.

I'll be on the lookout.
