I'd like to see the Ghost Bike replaced at 18th & Morgan that was removed during street renovations last year. I'm on the Lower West Side (Pilsen/Heart of Chicago) area and would like to participate. I'm more than happy to volunteer my time & energy.

Excellent-- sounds like we're neighbors (24/Rockwell here).

"Dad's" bike will be replaced.  Any chance you've heard if possibly a neighbor near 18th and Morgan put that bike in storage? I'd assume they just left it laying there when they took the post down.

I should probably clarify-- the ROS is a national event and a south side ROS would happen at the same time as Elizabeth's (which would still presumably leave from downtown). So we're talking about a choice....

Great folks... if you're at the Chicago Bike Swap on Saturday, stop by the Chicago Ride of Silence table and introduce yourself. We'd love to see you and talk with you more about a dual North-South ROS in Chicago for 2013.

So  what would such a ride be called?

Seems like it should be "Chicago Ride of Silence" since the existing ride only covers the north side and this one would cover the middle of the city?

We are hoping to have a meeting to discuss possible route(s) for this year's Chicago Ride of Silence. There is room for multiple ROS events - and all can be called the same thing - Chicago (North) RoS, Chicago (South) RoS OR maybe we'll just have a Chicago ROS and stay more central... pending interest.

Look for word of a meeting next week in the loop one evening early next week!

I'm not sure about making this contingent on your meeting results, unless you hold the meeting in a central area-- if you hold it on the north side/ early evening I think you'll get people coming overwhelmingly from the north side who will share your interest in keeping the same route again.

I think I've already started the process of gauging interest here?

My vote would be to have one ride and to hit points from downtown to Pershing this year, but historically it always falls back to the same north side route regardless of what ideas people have beforehand.

More details to follow... but the meeting will likely be at a cafe space in Ogilvie Train Station (500 W. Madison) next Monday or Tuesday evening at 6pm.
