I'm Mike Fiasco and I am working with the South Chicago Velodrome Association.  The SCVA is a 100% volunteer nonprofit organization that is saving the velodrome in the South Chicago neighborhood.

In 2011, a group of volunteers built the Chicago Velo Campus on land owned by United States Steel.  USS and their property manager generously donated the use of the land.  The velo organization leased the steel and wood structure and used their own efforts to build it in South Chicago.

As of this year, the Chicago Velo Campus decided to end their involvement in the velodrome management.  We still want track racing in Chicago, so a small group of volunteers have launched an effort to raise funds to keep the track in Chicago.

We still have a commitment from USS to use their land, and all we have to do is to raise money (approximately $160,000) to purchase the structure and refurbish it ready for racing this season.

The track is located at 8615 S. Burley Ave in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Here's a quick story that summarizes what we're doing:  http://chicagoist.com/2014/12/08/chicago_velo_campus_on_life_suppor...

Hi everyone; sorry about the delays... I've been meaning to post more updates here, but our first meeting is tonight and I wanted to keep you updated.

We're trying some innovative things while establishing this new Association, hoping to establish a new way of running such a group. There might be a few "hiccups" but we look forward to improving our performance as our routines get established. With that being said- let me point out a few important links:
