The Chainlink

commuting to work today :
riding into downtown on Milwaukee near Hubbard

feel something hit my leg (ignore it)

at the Jewel I apply the brakes - yikes -- no rear brake

look back and the pad fell off

go back and retrieve it (and the bollt) in the street

put my bike on the bus stop bench to re-attach it

being too lazy to fish my multi-tool out of my bag, I ask a fellow
commuter if he has an allen wrench. "Sure" he says.

as he takes stuff out of his bag - he has a zip loc bag of yummy looking red peppers

we talk about peppers and I tell him about chainlink (gave him two bookmarks)
and tonight's bar night

repair done : he gave me a pepper ! life is good (he offered the entire bag).

Love it! I have those sometimes too but by the time I get to work I don't have time to post my awesome experiences, but maybe now I will. Life is good.
Sounds like it could've been a pretty crappy beginning of the day for you. Maybe you'll get some fruit or veggies on the way home too. Better than my ride home yesterday fighting the wind and waves crashing OVER my head on the lake front.
Oh by the way, how is that Red Neck Chick disc?
funny you should ask : I bought it (impulse purchase in line at the dollar store) just for the artwork (sick, I know) - but it's actually kind of fun. they do covers of many favorites ...

Stand by your man
Redneck Woman
don't it make my brown eyes blue
goodbye earl (that one is a hoot)
here you come again
fancy
leave the pieces

I give it 4 stars !!!
grits, chicks and peppers. can't beat it.
