Tom Skilling: Snow possible by Monday
October 7, 2009 3:13 PM | No Comments
With the incoming air mass unseasonably cool, cloud level temperatures definitely support the possibility of snow by the end of the weekend.

If there are to be any snowflakes in the air, the period in which they would most likely occur would be Sunday night into perhaps Monday morning.
This wouldn't be a sticking snow, and any flakes would probably be part of the cold rain showers expected to sweep the area in that Sunday night-Monday period.

Interestingly, snowflakes--were they to occur--would be early. October 31 is the average date for this area's first trace (less than 0.1") of snow.

It takes a lot to cool the lower atmosphere and get the first flakes down to ground level, so it's not a slam-dunk yet.
