Arlington Hts./Palatine area is being affected right now. And it smells terrible, let alone the smokey haze in the air.. I am wondering how far South & South/West this will go today/tomorrow. So far, only a very local news source is picking this up.

I'm downtown now and I swear it smells like burning leaves! A few of my co-workers said the same thing.
i checked chicago breaking news to find out what warehouse was burning here. nothing. a co-workers fb update from someone tipped us off.

Very strong down here in McKinley Park/Bridgeport area.
Smelled like a BBQ ;-) I already knew what was up luckily as a friend in McHenry County had posted that the smell had reached them ;-)
I can smell it here in Milwaukee.
I thought it was fog coming off the lake, and with the number of restaurants in Wicker I hardly noticed the smell.  The moon looks cool with the haze but out by Humboldt I can smell it now.
I thought my neighbor was grilling again with those noxious mesquite chips but after reading the story it does smell just like a forest fire.  Hazy as all get out over by the lake.
It was hazy with a noticeable smell in Evanston too.  I thought it might be a car fire until I saw the news later in the evening.
Interesting, I was out in the greater NW area of the city and was trying to determine why it smelled like burning tires constantly...
