The Chainlink

We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow morning outside our office (9 W. Hubbard St.) for Winter Bike to Work Day! Please note the new location.
Come by anytime from 6:30-9 a.m. and warm up with Caribou coffee and tea and (breakfast of champions) Eli's Cheescake.

See you there!

Whie I rode in today (OK, so I ride in most days), I didn't have time to ride north of the river to say hi. Sorry. Sorry too that the City is now charging you to host this in Daley Plaza.

Anyway, if you're counting riders, count me.
Cheesecake for breakfast... I just couldn't do it. In retrospect I should have taken one to go. It was nice to see so many winter bikers this morning. The location was great for me, but is something sad about a tent on a River North sidewalk vs an event on our public square in the loop.

I must confess that when the Medill News Service video guy shot me on my departure, I waited for a red light to turn green even though there was no valid safety reason to do so.
I rode by and waved at about 7:30 am, but didn't have time to stop. You wished me happy bike to work day. If you're counting riders, you should count me too.
Thanks to everyone who showed up, it was a great year for the Winter Bike to Work Day event...I've personally been involved in six now and this one rocked for a lot of reasons (weather, people, Caribou, Eli's, new Active Trans members, good times all around).

Thanks to our friends with Bike Winter (Willow, Martin, et al) for joining us and passing out awesome fleece gear and winter biking love!

Regarding the location, we did a lot of research and hope to have a free, downtown plaza location for next year. We got a great lead on one but it was too late in the game for us to go through the process.

We'll keep making it bigger and better, thanks for all the support!

Ethan, with Active Trans
Hope you find a more central location as I work in the south Loop and commuted from Hyde Park today. Oh, yeah, a touch less wind on the homeward trip, if it can be arranged next year. Keep working miracles.
Your headwind on your homeward trip is the first Chicago tailwind-reward I can remember. I fought the headwind this morning and in the past have learned to expect the wind to change direction by evening. Instead I was pleasantly surprised.
