It's still good for them to know our thoughts, IMO.

The impression I've formed is that the agency has a mandate to collect public input, so it goes to various efforts (meetings and devices such as the above) to fulfill that mandate, but there is no mandate to incorporate any of the information collected into the planning process.
Would love to entertain an informed opinion to the contrary.
