Riding Buddy this weekend
Hey Everyone,
A few weeks ago, a few of you were able to provide me with a great route from Chicago to Crown Point, IN. I'm planning on doing this ride this weekend, however, my parents (who live in Crown Point) aren't too happy with the idea of me riding that way on my own on the streets in the South Side due to previous bad experiences of their own.
Granted, I will be making this trip very early in the A.M on sunday, so I should be safe, however I know that it would make them much more comfortable if I were to make that leg of the trip with someone else.
So I guess what I am looking for is someone to ride down with me to the Hammond area till I pick up that bike path, or for someone who would like to make the entire trip. I can definitely secure a nice lunch/dinner for you if you were to make the entire trip, however I will not be riding back.
I know its a fairly odd request, however if anyone is interested let me know. If you have had any experiences riding along that route (I will post a link to it as soon as I find it) that make you feel that it would be relatively safe by myself in the morning, let me know as well!

Pretty safe.
I would say your principal risks riding alone would be mechanical or medical.

I might be doing a training ride south to the wolf lake area which would get you through the south side. What time are you riding on sunday morning? You should be pretty safe on the ride even if you end up going solo, I've gone through that area quite a few times and I've never had any issues.
