We're gonna ride down on Saturday, September 17th from the Whole Foods at Roosevelt and Canal. Booze it up and have a good hooligan time. Those that don't ride are welcome to drive down and meet us for the tail gate. ;-) We buy tix through Section 8 athttp://www.section8chicago.com/ And Don't worry about gettin your ticket alone. It's general seating on the inside for Section 8. ;-)

The actual game starts at 3 pm. Tailgating starts at 1 pm. Riding down leaves at 11 am. ;-)

Wink wink, nudge nudge.
is that code for "I'm comin", Ryan? ;-)
Gah, saw this thread title and was hoping it was a game that worked for me. I show up to a few games a year (this year being the exception, although the team hasn't really showed up either) but have never biked it to TP. Won't be able to make this game- hopefully the opportunity presents itself again before the year is over.

Sure, it's possible to ride all the way down there to Toyota Park, but it's a bit of a haul for casual cyclists.  I much prefer to spend my sports and entertainment dollars to support teams who make it easier for their fans to attend games without having to drive.  The Fire lost me as a fan when they decided to abandon the city whose name they borrow to build a new stadium in the middle of nowhere.  Well, maybe not quite nowhere, but it's in the middle of a giant parking lot, in a place not served at all by regular public transportation.

(They also have this horrible habit of constantly trading away their best players, almost as if they've decided they never want to match the success of their inaugural season.  At any rate, the Bridgeview Best Buy are hardly the Chicago Fire I used to know and love.)

If you want a good time for a few bucks, without having to drive or ride out to the god-awful suburban sprawl, consider supporting a truly local team in the city.  I'm a big fan of roller derby; both the Windy City Rollers and the Chicago Outfit have upcoming bouts.

I'm a fan of a good rant and that's what that was. ;-)

We're riding to the Fire cause we like Soccer and drinking. ;-)  And for the record, whenever I've met the Windy City Rollers they come off as snooty with far to high an amount of self importance. :-) (Will that cause a flame war? Tune in at the same bat time, same bat station.)

The ride there is a lot of fun. Amazing people, good times. The problem with this 13 mile trip is the way home.
I am busy in the am so will meet you guys down there!

It may be an average distance but the last mile or two is pretty non-bike friendly. I ended up riding a good chunk of the way over that bridge on Harlem on the sidewalk.

Archer, the most direct route from my part of town, is a pretty crappy ride also. Parts of it (around the 5700 block) just got worse as it has been repaved (yay!) but painted with a wide lane separator in between the two directions of traffic putting more a  squeeze on the outside lanes (boo!).

I ridden out there a few times in daylight. Today in fact I was in the vicinity. I'm kinda reluctant to ride out there at night and then drink a bunch of beer and try to navigate that gauntlet back home while intoxicated.

It's a day game. ;-) We take the lane as a pack. We get off Archer at Narragansett. And take 67th? (I always forget where we turn off and just remember by site) and we're on Harlem for 3 blocks where you are welcome to ride on the sidewalk til ya get to the hill and walk down.

The Ride home is more of a challenge cause it is getting dark but with the game starting at 3 it won't be to bad.

If you ride in the street this is no different. ;-) If you ride on trails all day then maybe this isn't for you. ;-)
