The Chainlink

My Uncle David is in town from California and wants to rent a bike for a few days.

He is looking for a 44cm. He is 5'5" tall, his in seam is 30 (may be too much info).

What shops around there rent bikes?

The Evanston shop that was formerly called "Turin."  Pretty close to Skokie & Wilmette (4 stops down the Purple Line train from Wilmette's Linden stop).

Alternatively, buy a cheap recycled bike from the Recyclery, located a few hundred feet north of the Howard Street L stop (Yellow Line from Skokie, Purple Line from Evanston or Wilmette, Red Line from Chicago).  Ride it a few days, then redonate the bike, take the tax deduction (the Recyclery is a 501c3 nonprofit).

Not one that I know of. I bet you could get a super cheap bike from a garage sale up there, the houses are fairly large and old. Good luck!

A 44cm? He should be sized by a shop.

Ash is correct...  Maybe more like 54 cm.

Wow, I'd say for a guy, 50-52cm at the most. Anyway, Julie, he can borrow my vintage Schwinn Suburban step-thru if you like!
