So, I'll keep this short.  While I was attending the Fish & Fire Ride, during the Cardinal Liquors leg, I came out to see my rear wheel stolen.  If it's anyone on here, go to hell.

That being said, if anyone cares, here are the parts that were stolen...

-700c black Velocity B43 w/ black Formula hub, fixed/fixed, black spokes 3x lacing

-700x23 Specialized Armadillo Elite

-16t Shimano freewheel

-16t Origin8 cog w/ lockring

You'll get yours.

Thanks to all the other riders for hanging with me and making the night end on a positive note.

sorry to hear this John. that's got to be horrible feeling coming out to see the rear wheel missing.

and I'm sure that was a bad way to start the weekend.

I hope by some chance maybe you find it for sale on craigslist and can recover it.

every time I see one of these threads I say I am going to invest in locking skewers.

I'm not sure if that was intended to be funny, sarcastic, or ?

but I don't seem to find it appropriate. maybe it's just me or too early.

Ouch!  Sorry John.

Sorry to hear that.  Did they cut your lock?  What kind of lock were you using? It would be good for everyone to know.

Always lock both wheels.  U-lock and cable is one of the best combinations.

Sorry to hear about this John.

I do the ulock and cable thing, but I make it a practice now to use the ulock on the rear and thread the cable through the front wheel. My rear wheel may be a lot more difficult to remove (no quick release and a coaster brake to deal with) but it would also be a lot more expensive to replace. My front wheel of my daily rider cost me $10. The rear was about $150 (plus a lot of time building it).

That said, a cable is pretty easily cut so I'm considering moving up to a big ass chain and ulock combination.

It's 3 teenagers in Lincoln Square; I've seen them twice but they run faster scared than I do angry...

If I go to a place where there is a history of bike theft I use a Kriptonyte chain and a U-lock.  It's a pain to carry all that stuff around but I like finding my bike when I come look for it =).

You may want to wander around the Welles Park gazebo or around the Lincoln Square area in the next week or so.  It sounds like these may be locals and you may just spot your wheel on one of their bikes.

Really? You couldn't tell that was a joke?
