Heard this on the radio yesterday, does anyone have anymore info, such as the actual law ?
Chicago - Illinois roads just got a little safer for bicyclists: Governor Quinn signed a new law that imposes new fines on people who drive recklessly or too close to people on bikes.
It will be illegal for drivers to crowd or threaten bicyclists by driving too close to them.
A second piece of legislation will also create Share the Road license plates. The plate fees will be used to fund education campaigns.
The bill goes into effect January 1.
People who don't obey the new bike law can be fined $2,500 and be sentenced to a year in jaillegal for drivers to crowd or threaten bicyclists by driving too close to them.
