Just watched a great video and read a little more. Very good design on an intersection. Does anyone think we've got a chance to get these put in Chicago?
The design was released earlier this year for the Outside the Box competition. Video and article linked below.

I read that a couple of weeks ago, while a great idea, it will really limit vehicle movement and put cyclists and peds out on those little "islands" and with a large truck turning you'll end up in the trailers swing path. Plus there the cost of moving lights and such, and the protected lane opens up all sorts of issues with peds crossing to get to the sidewalk in front of cyclists.
Great idea, again, but I don't think it was thorough enough. There is some overhead cycle-only roundabout in Europe somewhere that is a great idea since it completely removes cyclists from ped and vehicle traffic when maneuvering an intersection, but again we aren't big on roundabouts in the states.
