Places to Practice riding

Hey,

First off Id like to say that this forum is awesome. Being new in town, its great that I can log onto here and instantly feel so connected to the cycling community. Anyways, Im a fixie rider and I was wondering if anyone knew of any empty lots or large untrafficked areas I could go to practice tricks n what not? Living in the loop isnt really ideal for going out an being able to get things done. 

Doesnt have to be in the loop, im down for adventuring.
