The Chainlink

no really...i get a stiffy for camping...

tis almost the season... who is up for some bicycle camping? load up your bike and/or trailer and lets watch the city disappear behind us as we head into the great outdoors.

there were a number of bike camping rides last year and i would love to see a few more this year.  a bike/camping group was started, and i would like to start discussing and planning possible trips..

you ready for roughing it?

Good, glad it got your attention. Sex always sells
I biked up to Zion last May. it is a good weekend trip. The Green bay and McClory trail are easy to follow for the most part. Not terribly scenic, but it is a straightforward path.
The campsites themselves are OK I guess. I am used to camping in the Boundary waters, and Illinois beach state park is geared more toward folks with campers. But I was not the only biker there that weekend, and bikes are not uncommon there. They don't like you scrounging for firewood, and they want you to buy some from their guy who sells it in the park. I am used to wilderness camping from a canoe so this was new to me. But all in all it is a nice easy weekend get away.

I'm planning a trip to Zion mid april to mid may depending on the weather. Anyone bike camped to Zion?
Holy bear shit, Batman!!

We are up to 31 campers for the May edition of Pitching a Tent.

As a reminder...i will be closing the RSVP at the end of this week, and sending out confirmations to those who did RSVP just in case.
Last call for may camping trip...
Have fun iggles ;-)
I'm all for Illinois Beach State Park. I've camped there several times myself, having lived in Beach Park when I was younger. I made it a Mother's Day tradition to get to IBSP the night before and make camp, then I'd visit Mom in Waukegan after I broke camp on Mother's Day , then return to Milwaukee.

31 is a lot of people! I was out there a few weeks ago, and the rangers will only let 4 people and/or 2 tents per campsite.
well we werent trying to all pile up into one site..

Yes, I have on many a Mother's Day. I had to come from Milwaukee WI, where I still live and enjoyed overnighting at Illinois Beach State Park. I'm hoping to join the Chainlink crew at Illinois Beach and wouldn't mind being posted on iggi's progress on getting sites. Keep me informed so that I can go there and camp with the Chainlink crew.
