Pitch in a little = BIG help... Active Trans happenings, classes, suburbs, and more

Oh my gosh... SO much happening on the Active Trans front!!

This is a great opportunity for those who'd like to pitch in, but may have tight schedules or are otherwise unable to make larger time commitments. Opp's in the suburbs, too! Please email jody@activetrans.org if you are interested in any of the following:

Get Schooled!! - This season's final outreach classes are upon us. Active Trans has presence at events, concerts, and more all over the city and suburbs where we engage folks on bike, ped and transit advocacy and invite them to join the cause. Trained outreach volunteers receive preference for these opportunities (and some are exclusively offered to them), so come and Get Schooled! Classes are tonight (June 4) at 7pm and Saturday at noon at 9 West Hubbard.

Saturday the 6th: Stuffing packets for the Bike Commuter Challenge at Active Trans office, this Saturday. Help us be sure that program participants have access to all the literature, tools, and tips they need to gear up for their first bike commuting experiences.

Tuesday the 9th or Thursday the 11th: Packing maps at CDOT offices - CDOT is under a mountain of bike maps that must be packed and shipped out all over the city. We're looking for 3-5 people from 3:30pm until roughly 6:30pm. Imagine how many bicyclists this would eventually assist!!

Wednesday the 10th: Assembling Bike the Drive presentation packs at Active Trans office - We've got all the materials (press info, snapshots, news clippings, sample advertisements, etc.) from BTD 2009 ready to be assembled into binders and sent off to all our amazing sponsors. Help protect the financial future of BTD through this crafty little task. We're looking for 1-3 people for just 1-3 hours.

TODAY through June 19th: Pulling a trailer for the Bike Commuter Challenge - Our Bike to Work Week program is full of promised donations, goody bag materials, and literature moving all over the city. We'd much rather not resort to using cars to support this bike program, so let us know if you're interested in making a trip or two (or three or...). We can supply loaner trailers, too! Please be an experienced trailer-puller.

Week of the 22nd: Making Bike Commuter Challenge calls - We want to reward our commuters properly, but first we need to get their correct feedback. Plenty of folks sign up for the program and then don't report back their results. Help us close the loop to wrap up the program effectively by contacting participants to gather necessary information. This task has flexible locations and times.

Suburban Opportunity: Celebrate bicycle commuters during Bike to Work Week at locations all over the city and suburbs. Volunteers are needed from 6-8:30am to assist while we reward those who commute by bike with cool freebees, coffee, and more. Contact Pamela@activetrans.org to learn more or volunteer at the following:
Glen Ellyn - June 16
Lombard - June 18
Hinsdale - June 19

TONS of cool Bike to Work Week happenings here, so if you're unable to volunteer, we still hope to see you on your commute!
