Hi,

We are a group of civically-minded cyclists who are trying to make it easier to bicycle Chicago.
One of our subprojects is project pavement, where we measure street quality using phone accelerometers: http://project-pavement.herokuapp.com/
Another project that we are just now setting up is creating custom bicycle routing profiles to help people get around the city using the quieter streets: http://pbikerouting.herokuapp.com/
Lastly, we are trying to get more users on https://ride.report/ so that we can get a stress map of Chicago streets for cyclists. Ride report also offers a dashboard if you know any city planners that would be interested in cycling analytics!

Reach out to me at zeblanton at google mail if you're interested!

Are you looking for people with any specific background besides city planners? I would be interested.

Yupp, we are looking for all skillsets! Most of us are actually software developers, so it would be good to get some more diverse backgrounds. If you're interested in talking to the crew, most of our discussion occurs in a slack channel. Join the Chi Hack Night slack with this link http://chihacknightslack.herokuapp.com/ , and then go to the "PBR" subchannel of the Slack.

Ha, "we" is a rotating cast of people at Chi Hack Night! (we are the group at the bottom) https://chihacknight.org/breakouts.html

City planners don't care how smooth the pavement is, they assume all roads are smooth.  DOT repair crews do.  Helps locate potholes and which roads to repave.
