The Chainlink

Fellow Cyclists, Perhaps you have ridden by the 100-year old coal burning power plants on the Southside and noticed the smoke stacks, perhaps you know someone who has health problems related to air quality...

The Chicago Clean Power Coalition needs your help! After years of efforts to address this public health crisis, we could be just days away from getting Chicago’s old, polluting Fisk and Crawford coal plants cleaned up for good.

This Wednesday morning from 8:45 to 11, join us for a critical action at City Hall to show the mayor and City Council that the time is now, and to push for a deadline to close the plants. A rally on the second floor will be followed by a powerful visual representation at the City Council meeting of the serious health impacts to Chicagoans from the coal plants.

Below is an infographic to update you on the plants, the campaign’s progress, and what you can do (even if you can’t make it tomorrow!) Please RSVP to Vera at Vera.Leopold@gmail.com or on the event Facebook page, and bring as many friends as you can!
