The Chainlink

Hello Ride of Silence supporters,

Our 2013 ROS jerseys and socks are now available for purchase from the Wisconsin-based manufacturer Mt. Borah -- http://mtborah.com/our-products/re-order/ride-of-silence/

There is generally a 2-3 week turnaround time for orders, so please be sure to get your order in now... so you can wear it proudly while cycling this spring and help promote this year's ROS event. Also, please spread the word.

This jersey is special edition jersey for the 2003-2013 event with the 10-year anniversary logo on the back. Also - the rear pockets have a reflective material coating (new this year from last year). The jersey is available in both men's and women's sizing. Plus - new this year - we're also offering ROS socks!

Hope you show your support for the annual Ride of Silence and get your order in... and encourage riders in your community to do the same.

Mark your calendars - Ride of Silence is May 15, 2013!

Thanks,
~Elizabeth

For those of us who don't know about this ride:

"The Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.

In 2003, Chris Phelan organized the first Ride of Silence in Dallas after endurance cyclist Larry Schwartz was hit by the mirror of a passing bus and was killed. (Read the full history here...)

The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. There are no sponsors and no registration fees. The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured."

Any chance cycling caps will be available?

Adam - No caps available at this time, but we are looking into it. Thanks!

We may be able to offer cycling caps afterall..  We'd like to know how much interest there is in such a cap and if you have a design / color preference. And what you'd pay.

Thanks for the comments.

Something that matches the jersey would be nice (including the white background, logo, and grey/yellow accents). I'd expect to pay around $20, give or take $5 or so.

What do you think of this ROS cycling cap (10th anniv edition) or would you prefer a cap with the standard ROS logo?

 or offer both?

I would rock one but I don't like having dates on my clothing.  I happen to keep things a long time and sometimes it's I bit tacky looking to wear an "I Survived Mayor Daley's Bridgeport 5K 2006" T shirt.

But still, I'd wear that with no date on it for a $20 - $25 price if you have a true XL.

The jerseys this year will have the dates 2003-2013... since it's the 10th anniversary of the ride.

We are still working on a design for the cap, however, that may just have "since 2003" on the side panel instead of "dating" it to this year. Not sure about sizing yet.

I'd be more inclined to go with the cap since I'd be hesitant to spend good money on the jersey.  The jerseys are priced very fairly, but I'd consider it a chunk personally.

Don't let my weirdness deter you from putting a date on the cap but "since 2003" would be awesome.

Looks great!

we think we have a new "timeless" cap design.... (just awaiting final design approval). shall we offer this or both this and the 10th anniv cap?

(comments welcome)

Personally, I like the "timeless" one shown in your photo better than the 10th anniversary.
