Police to sell unclaimed bicycles
More than 150 bicycles recovered by the Oak Park Police Department over the past year, but not claimed by their owners, will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 a.m. – noon, Sat., July 23, at 260 Madison St. Bicycles range in size, style and condition, are pre-priced and will be sold as-is with no pre-sale inspection. Payment may be made with cash or check. Prices will range from $30 to more than $100. Only one bike may be purchased per person at a time, with a limit of two bikes per household. Too many conditions... What's with the household limit? i can understand discouraging mass buys from vultures and flea marketers, but what if one has a largish family (for the sake of argument) that needs more than two bikes? You'd think that the OPD would be happily rid of these bikes and not care who bought how many just as long as they make bank. Just sayin'.

 

i once scored two decent bikes at the OPPD auction years ago, though.
