I'm not in the city, but I've been doing the same since the heat wave set in. Typically, I've been riding the 8 miles to the Hennepin Canal path as the sun sets, riding 10-15 miles on the path, then home on the road.  I've been getting 30-40+ miles in with a lot nicer conditions than during the day.  The moon was really cooperative when I started my night rides, but has been waning and coming up later, so I have to rely more on the lights the last couple of nights.  Bugs were really bad last night though, riding through small clouds of them and couldn't keep them out of my eyes.  Occasionally inhaled the odd one too.

My friends and I have been doing the same!! We live in the southwest suburbs..  Out night rides typically start pretty late tho.. and end in the wee hours of the morning..  But we've been doing between 15 and 30 miles as well.. We either ride to trails near where we live.. or drive out the the city and ride the lake front/city streets.

I am out on one right now. Stopped at the Adler to take a look at Saturn through some telescopes that are set up, they will be out till 11pm btw. I am a big fan of the nite ride.

It's every 3rd Thursday.  Next one will be August 18th.

Organized or not the Adler is always a nice destination. Ill post when my friend is going to have his telescope out for free viewing of objects out in space.

Saw Saturn, Iridium Satellite, ET cluster, and the double double... All was interesting and great for a free night out.
