I just bought a bike. I reside in lincoln park, and wanted to go on long bike ride tomorrow Sunday to explore the scenery, maybe by the lake ... going north.
Any suggestions? Filip

The Lakefront Path will be unpleasantly crowded on a day like tomorrow.
If the OP doesn't mind biking slowly, though, I think it would be fine.
5 miles would be too short ... you are right ... the link you provided is cool. Thx
I was wondering if there are bike paths or trails one can access online for options
Bike south towards the Loop. Once you get past the Museum Campus, the Lake Front Trail gets a lot less crowded.
Oh, yes, if the northbound ride from Lincoln Park sounds too short, definitely take Adam's suggestion to bike southbound on the lakepath. As he says, once you get past the downtown area it should be smooth sailing and quite beautiful.
(Though, now that they renovated that beach area around...35th?...is it crowded and crazy there on summer weekends?)
I second clp's suggestion, though mine is slightly different. On the two previous sunday's I led a ride that went North on the North Branch Trail, took Green Bay Road to Highwood, and then back to Chicago on Sheridan. It's a great ride..the coolness of the Forest Preserve woods,,and the open biking of Sheridan road on the return. I can't say enough good things about an early Sunday am ride on Sheridan road.
The ride I do is about 55 miles but of course you can modify the ride for fewer miles.
For those who want to join me on these future rides send me a message. I do about 18-19 mph.
thank you all for great suggestions. I ended up heading north all the way to Glencoe and back. Quite a nice ride despite the various detours in Evanston and stuff but was really nice. Will catch up on one of those group rides soon
Also check out Critical Mass if you're into that. It can be a fun way to see the city.
