new (german) biker in the nothern suburbs

Hello,

my name is Felix, I am from germany and I am doing in internship in Wheeling from April to the end of Juin. I will be living in Wilmette (near Edens Shopping Plaza).

I wanted to ask you, if you could tell me a nice bike store around Wilmette, where I could get a helmet?

And could you perhaps alos help me to find a good way (fast and safe :-)) to get to work by bike (perhaps one or two times a week...)?

There is also another intern who could catch me at the river road - what would be the best way to get there?

Try the Higher Gear bike shop in Wilmette. 1515 Sheridan Road, Wilmette, IL 60091 (847) 256 2330.

Check the Evanston Bike Club web site at evanstonbikeclub.org for ride information. There are many routes that will get you from Wilmette to Wheeling. You can download the cue sheets from the web site.

i will try out this bike shop tomorrow - I still need a helmet.

I drove the way to that golf club today, as you said, the last piece of the way wasn't so nice, but it was only a short piece of the whole way, so it was ok!

I just got a spezialized Echelon II there for around 70$ - what do you think, is this a good helmet/deal?

Don't know whether is is a good deal, but any helmet sold in the US is a "good" helmet in that they meet independent safety standards.
A good, comfortable fit is the most important.
