I saw some bright new bike lanes on Kedzie this morning between North and Armitage. Anyone know how far they'll go? It'd be great to see them from Agusta to the Monument - that's a section that gets plenty of bike traffic

Any new bike lanes are good to see.  I'm beginning to like Rahm & Gabe more and more.

Kedzie is pretty well all lined up around Logan Square north of that. It's pretty nice looking (all shiny and new) although some of the lineage with the center yellow no zone and the bike lanes that get squished into the driving lane don't seem to make much sense.  It's like the bike lane starts and stops every half block. In fact, it's pretty retro-logical if you ask me.

But it is something.

I pumped, but now I can't take advantage of the empty right hand half-lane as easily on my motorcycle... guess I'll hafta bike it. They should change all of those half-lanes to bike lanes

They're still working out the bike lane design kinks in Belgium:

These lost half-lanes to bicycles on many City streets have made riding a Vespa in the City much less quick and efficient than it used to be even 10 years ago. It's the difference between scooting around stopped traffic and being stuck in it.

Just use the bike lane, cabbies, impatient drivers do do. Delivery trucks park in them, over the 4th motorcycles were using them. The rules are get to where you need to go without getting stopped by the police, fighting, getting injured or killed.

Yeah, it's not like the legality of it has changed by adding the white lines, bike-shaped markings, and bollards.  It wasn't legal for motor-vehicles to over-take and pass on the right before and it's not legal to drive one in the bike lane now.  Neither infraction is liable to get you a ticket or even noticed by the guys in the white & blue SUV's.   They are busy looking for a doughnut shop where they can part out front in the bike lane themselves.
