The Chainlink

I need to track down a locale to hold a small semi-casual meeting (?10 people) on a late Sunday afternoon.

I don't know if anyone remembers Westgate Café at Madison and Sangamon before it folded, or the Mercury Café before it folded, but both of those places would have been ideal as they each featured a dedicated small meeting area that one could sign up for, and both had coffee/tea/light fare available.

Anyways, I'm calling on the all-knowing chainlink forum for some leads; the locale ideally  would meet the following criteria:

-Casual e.g. food/coffee establishment, not an office-like setting

-Central/ West Loop to mid-north location

-reasonably quiet, or able to be made so (meaning music could be turned down, and not a place that fills up with loud people or has a bunch of screens blasting the big game)

-not always bursting-full (I can think of lots of cafes where you can't even get a seat for one person most of the weekend.)

-maybe something like a dedicated small meeting area like above mentioned former locales

I'm probably forgetting something . . . thanks for any leads!

3rd coast cafe in the gold coast is pretty close to that.  It's pretty causal and quiet and grabbing large booth in the back shouldn't be a problem on sunday afternoon.  As a bonus, they have decent food and have cocktails/wine as well.

I've  heard www.nextdoorchi.com is a good meeting space in Lincoln Park.

i think Sip may accommodate about 10+ folks in the back room. its a great independent coffee house with a loft-like atmosphere in the back. its fairly close to the blue and red lines. but its nowhere as big as mercury.

1223 West Grand.

^ Sip is great! There's usually room from what I remember, though it might be a bit tight for 10. Unless the patio is open ;)

sip is a great option. They usually don't get too busy or loud. I believe they have an upstair too. However 10 may be a bit tight.

You might try D'agistino's on Ogdon. I've held lunch meetings there. They do have a meeting space, but can be hesitant to open it up though without a fee. Talk to a manager and it shouldn't be a problem.
