Need a date for the Sadie Hawkins Day race on November 20th? Post up here.... remember, guys/girls, a girl
should ask you to race. If you need a date (which doesn't imply that
you'll be, in any way, connected to that person except for trying to
keep up with them!), post here. Remember, you can do the race FF, MF,
MMF, MFF, MFFF, MFFFF, MFFFFF, etc....but boys, you need a female with
you.

You must pre-register at the Sadie Hawkins website here.

Sadie is a charity event to benefit the Chicago Women's Health Center so
they can continue to keep women of all ages and lifestyles healthy,
educated and riding their bikes. You'll be doing your part for the
Chicago Ladies.

Start: Blue Frog, 676 N. Lasalle NOON for registration.

After Party: CRUST Organic Eatery, 2056 W. Division

Registration:
Couple: $20
Solo Lady $10
Solo Jerk (we still love you) $10.

(21 and over only.)

Sounds fun! How long is the route? I don't see it specified on the site.
This does sound like fun!

So…

But....

I’d only be interested in doing the race if a woman that asked me also found it offensive that the registration button was a female cartoon character punching a male cartoon character in the face.

She would also find it ironic that the theme of the Sadie Hawkins race being a couples event had any representation of domestic violence, even if it's just a representation of a male being abused. Because that's ok dont-cha-know.

That being said, I'd still like to do the race.

It's even more ironic given that the Sadie Hawkins race is a benefit for the Chicago Women's Health Center. That being said, it looks like a great cause and an interesting race. Definitely something I wouldn't mind trying.

Actually, that's girl-on-girl violence. It's actually from a Disney movie.

Thanks Jami! I did not know that. No problem.

julie, are you sure you need a female on your team to register? i seem to remember a price break a few years ago for teams that included a female (something like, it was $10 for men to register and $5 for women, so MF teams were 15, MM were 20, FF were 10), but it seems to be $20 per team regardless this year. i also don't see anywhere on the site that your team needs a girl on it...
Also, it's teams of two ONLY. I emailed them and had asked, as I was curious about how that would work.
I've decided to volunteer.

This if from the "Sadie Hawkins Web site.

Any organization that thinks this is "ok" or "just funny" is mentally and morally deficient and should not be supported.
Hi Rik,

Sorry if the image offends you, but you'll have to take it up with Disney. Its a scene from a child's cartoon based on the Lilo and Stitch movie, of Lilo pouncing her best friend Myrtle. We had another concerned citizen ask about this as well and have hugged it out via email. Please bear in mind, us volunteers who are working REALLY REALLY HARD to make this happen need some comic relief now and then.

Rest assured, there is no condoned violence at Sadie Hawkins, boy-girl, girl-girl or otherwise. (That said if a team were to emulate our Lilo gif on the ride, someone might be awfully tempted to dish out MAD style points.)

J.
