NBC :Carpet Cleaning - DIY or pay a professional ?

NBC = no bike content btw

I can't believe I am asking this : I have to get my carpets cleaned; wall to wall berber.

no stains, just the usual winter wear and tear (there are a few drops from where the road slush dripped off the bike through the drop cloth (ooops there's the bike content)).


Should I -

(a) Rent one of those things at Jewel and Do it myself ?

or

(b) pay a professional.

please back your response up with some first hand experience; or education BS, etc.

Rent a Rug Doctor from Jewel. I've done both - pay professional and done it myself. The rental machines are cheaper and do just as good of a job for regular cleaning. Unless you have some serious stains, or have to do a whole house, it's not worth paying someone to do it for you.

I second Tania's response, especially if you have the means to haul the rental to your place and back.
