I'll start this off with a disclaimer. I've checked the forum under "feet pain" "feet hurt" and haven't found anything by searching the forums.
So when I ride the arch of my feet start to hurt. I've rode in cross trainer shoes, chucks, and even flip flops.
Obvious flip flops are not ideal. Does anyone have an idea or maybe your own experience and success story about arch pain while riding?
I do not use clipped pedals and the pedals are the type that have the metal spiky things on the front and back, I presume for grip. You might be able to see them in the picture.
This is really the only pain I get that I can't figure out how to remedy.
Thank you in advance.

I noticed a huge difference after I switched to bike shoes with stiff soles. I don't clip in either, but I use pedals with toe cages, and that helps too; you no longer apply all your force downward, but forward and upward as well
If you are having significant foot pain I can't stress enough that you should see a podiatrist if you have medical coverage.
As James Kelly said if you are loading your arch from the bottom you can be causing an issue with your plantar fashia and let me tell you this isn't something you want to get worse. I've had plantar faschiatis in the past and my wife is suffering from it right now and has been battling it since last summer.
You might have an issue with your regular shoes that is only getting exasperated by pedaling on the bottom of your arch. Most people get away with wearing shoes that are not correct. When your feet go they usually GO and the issue is very painful and takes a long time to heal (if ever.)
A good podiatrist can nip the problem in the bud before you end up missing work and/or not being able to walk for weeks or even months at a time.
I'm not a doctor and don't even play one on The Chainlink but I would advise you not to mess around with your feet if you are having pain that re-occurs whenever you do something as simple as ride a bicycle. It shouldn't hurt. GO see a real doctor and see what is up.
