An appeal to the bicycling community to help this kitty find a home. Feel free to spread the word around! COntact information is at the end of the post. Thanks for helping!

Mungo is an authentic Humboldt Park Alleycat(TM) which means that he is tough as nails, yet receptive to kindness.  When he first appeared in our garden three years ago, it was winter and he held his left paw up in a sad limp.  He was scabby and crabby and wasnʼt used to all the nurse-like attention I paid him, but he suffered through his rehabilitation and is a healthy little indoor-outdoor cat now.  He is a 10-pound silver-grey kitty, perhaps 5 years old, with the most beautiful green eyes and white streaks on his chest, his big paws and on his brow.  He is calm dog-friendly and is full of energy, though is content to be left alone.  He absolutely adores catnip.  Prince Mungo loves to drink from the tub faucet and will lead to you to the bathroom to serve him fresh running water.  He is FIV-positive, which has never been a problem, he is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on his shots and is surprisingly good at the vet.

The only trouble is that he has serious territory issues with male cats, which is why we have to keep him separated from our other male cat in the house.  Theyʼve gotten into a handful of scrapes, none of which have transmitted FIV to our other cat, but these kitty arguments are upsetting for us all and difficult to manage well.  We love him very much, but acknowledge that this situation is still not the best for him.  This is why we have to do better for Mungo–  he has survived so much out in the big world that he deserves a place where he can truly be the one and only king of the castle, reveling in all your attention and purring his thanks for the gift of a cozy spot anywhere he wants in the house.

If you think you would be a good match for Mungo, or if you have any questions, please contact Jessi (773.655.7748) or Patrick (773.398.0398). We have plenty more stories to share about Mungo and welcome your communication with us.  Thank you so much for your interest, we just want to do right by this great cat!

This broke my heart.

I can't take him (I have two old-lady cats who couldn't handle a newcomer at all), but I wish you luck. He looks like a very sweet boy.
Pass it on to anyone you think might have a good home. He's a really chill cat, content to be scritched once or twice a day. He'd make an AWESOME shop cat...

He looks like quite the character! I'm sure such a handsome boy will be able to find a great home. Wish my home could accommodate him, but my two fur monsters wouldn't be very gracious hosts. :)

I work at a vet (Family Pet in lincoln park), so I can put up this info if it'll help. Is he missing part of his ear? ...what a bad-ass.
Yeah his ear was snipped by Treehouse as part of the Trap-Neuter-Release program. He's got plenty of bad-ass brawling scars, but you wouldn't know he's a fighter from how he nuzzles and purrs. He's such a lover! Yeah, post this up at your work I'd greatly appreciate it!

funny - I gave a(nother) Humboldt Park stray (kitten) to a girl (Heather ?) at 1625 N. Richmond. I found her in the garage. If I see her (or if her housemates see this) this may be a welcomed addition.
