An appeal to the bicycling community to help this kitty find a home. Feel free to spread the word around! COntact information is at the end of the post. Thanks for helping!
Mungo is an authentic Humboldt Park Alleycat(TM) which means that he is tough as nails, yet receptive to kindness. When he first appeared in our garden three years ago, it was winter and he held his left paw up in a sad limp. He was scabby and crabby and wasnʼt used to all the nurse-like attention I paid him, but he suffered through his rehabilitation and is a healthy little indoor-outdoor cat now. He is a 10-pound silver-grey kitty, perhaps 5 years old, with the most beautiful green eyes and white streaks on his chest, his big paws and on his brow. He is calm dog-friendly and is full of energy, though is content to be left alone. He absolutely adores catnip. Prince Mungo loves to drink from the tub faucet and will lead to you to the bathroom to serve him fresh running water. He is FIV-positive, which has never been a problem, he is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on his shots and is surprisingly good at the vet.
The only trouble is that he has serious territory issues with male cats, which is why we have to keep him separated from our other male cat in the house. Theyʼve gotten into a handful of scrapes, none of which have transmitted FIV to our other cat, but these kitty arguments are upsetting for us all and difficult to manage well. We love him very much, but acknowledge that this situation is still not the best for him. This is why we have to do better for Mungo– he has survived so much out in the big world that he deserves a place where he can truly be the one and only king of the castle, reveling in all your attention and purring his thanks for the gift of a cozy spot anywhere he wants in the house.
