Jennifer,

I missed the earlier phase meetings. I'm not so much interested in Greenways, but I'm hugely interested in last month's topic, which if I recall correctly, was routes for protected bike lanes. Is is still possible to provide input for that? Thanks!

Hi-

We haven't talked about protected lanes yet though the public meetings have talked about them as part of  of what is possible. December was more about collecting information about  specific categories: destinations you want to get to in and outside of the region, barriers to cycling, gaps in the network and assets already full of potential.

We'd be glad to hear what you think and if you come to the meeting we can review the input for our area. The Neigborhood Greenways might not seem that exciting at first glance to cyclists confident with the streets they already ride but the potential to link neighborhood destinations like parks, shopping and schools is really powerful especially for the untapped people in Chicago who would use their bikes for these all important short trips once they feel the streets are safe.

I think we all ride these quieter residential  streets- ideally with two way traffic, good stop lights and signs at intersections to ease crossings. If you can think of any you use it would be really helpful!

I'm not sure when protected lanes are on deck but the mix of possibilities is really important to grow our mix of cyclists!
