Metra Bikes on Trains program expanded 67%, call for study

The short and simple: Effective May 1, 2010, Metra has increased the number of bikes allowed on diesel trains from 3 per car to 5 per car.

I'd like to see an study on Metra's Bikes on Trains program. How many bikes per train line, per day? How many on weekends vs. weekdays. How many in June, September, December, and March?

Last Sunday there were 4 in the car I was on, and more being directed to elsewhere on the train. I agree with Jeff that the conductors and other passengers have always been very friendly in dealing with extra bikes.
