Mark me confused? Tire or Rim issue?
So I went for a ride yesterday and all was going well till my rear tire took a hard hit.
I didn't get a flat. I didn't pop a spoke. But now their is a noticeable feeling of a flat spot so to speak.
I thought if I take and let all the air out and pump it back up It would go away.Nope I was wrong. The rim does not appear to be damaged. And the tire is a Kevlar bead.
So I'm not sure what I need to do at this point. I'm open for suggestions.
I'm thinking I need a new rear tire. I'm hoping I don't need a new rim it has less than 600 miles. It might even be that the tube got pinched??? Just hoping for some thoughts.
I will probably take it where I got it so the onsite mechanic can look and see what I did.
Any other thoughts welcome.

Take the wheel off and spin it, looking directly down at it. Do you see some vertical 'hop'? If so, this may be the source of your troubles and any shop would be happy to true the wheel for you.

the tire bead seems to be sucked in at the hop point. It does not mover left to right but up and down.
Hope that makes sense???
I have had many rims go out of true left to right but not up and down so to speak.

I would take it to a shop and have it trued. It sounds like you may have ovalized the rim a bit. The wheel can be re-tensioned to pull it back in to shape hopefully.
It's possible the tire was damaged by breaking the casing or a separating a protective belt, but usually it is very noticeable to the eye when this happens as the tire tread balloons out.

Check your spokes. Pinch two at a time all the way around and then do the same on the other side. You could have a broken spoke or two, or you may have some loose ones. Tighten or replace, as you see fit, or take it to your local bike shop to fix, once you have discovered the problem.

I took it in had it trued up but still egged it :(
Looks like I might be in the market for a new rim sooner than I thought.
Going to have to see what I can find.
Rims are not the cheapest thing either :(

Bummer. I feel your pain, as I have had to purchase two new wheels in the past. Not sure what size tire you run, but I've had excellent luck with Mavic Open Pros and of course, my seemingly indestructible Sun CR-18. Good luck.
