LSD to close in Near North area early Sunday morning

Lake Shore Drive is scheduled to close between Chicago Avenue and Division Street between 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday for a helicopter lift, officials said.

The closure is due to a helicopter delivery of air conditioning equipment for a Lake Shore Drive high-rise, according to a media advisory from the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

The closure also includes the lakefront path.

Motorists can detour northbound Lake Shore Drive by going west on Chicago Avenue, then north on Michigan Avenue until it meets back up with northbound Lake Shore Drive, the release said.

Southbound Lake Shore Drive motorist scan detour to southbound Michigan Avenue before turning east on Chicago Avenue back to Lake Shore Drive, the release said.

Parking restrictions will also be in effect for the area.
