The Chainlink

Admin feel free to delete this if this is a no-no, but I make NO money off of this.  Trying to help out a local entrepreneur that makes some bomb a$$ bags!

I recently needed a new saddle bag and was thinking about getting a top tube (or fuel tank) bag as well.  I had a Topeak one that was expandable but it flopped around like saggy bag of poop and tore about 4 months after I got it.

Well a friend from church had a really nice bag on his saddle so I asked, turns out it was made by a guy, Elliot, in Evanston and this is something he does on the side.  So I checked out his FB and etsy site, liked what I saw and emailed him with what I was looking for.  He CUSTOM made the bags to the colors I was looking for, with the trim I wanted, and also had the bright color interiors so you can see what is inside (ever looked in a black bag for a black allen wrench?  Sucks.).

Anyway, see the pics but he did a fantastic job, used a water resistant zipper, x-pac material and he had it done a week sooner than he told me simply because he was going out of town and didn't want to make me wait.  I paid $85 ($50 for the TT bag and $35 for the saddle).  A little pricey compared to big box stuff but I wanted something that would work well on both my bikes and would work well in the bad Chicago weather we get since I am commuting year round.

Check him out, I know good gear can be hard to come by (I am an avid outdoorsman) and what's better than supporting a fellow Chicago Cyclist?  Maybe even could be talked about being a Chainlink sponsor? (Don't know how that works)

Thanks for posting this. I am in the market for some custom
Work. Love local.

Elliot is pretty well known around the Chainlink.  Lovestar is a member.  Does not hurt to remind us about a member who makes cool things for bikes!

Love the Village Cycle Center water bottle too.  More local business love.

That wouldn't happen to be B2W Week Swag by any chance?

Actually that is bought a new bike from them swag. Bought that Trek June 1st and it came with a bottle, cage and helmet. The cage got swap since I have matching ones but the bottle is prefect for my commute to work.
And VCC is the bomb. So glad I purchased through then, had some unfavorable experiences with other shops but never at VCC even when I was tire kicking.
