Hey Chainlinkers!
If any of you have some free time this weekend to help promote cycling in Chicago, Active Trans needs a few more people to help us run our Bike Valet for Lollapalooza. It's like a coat check for your bike, and will be on the northwest corner of Monroe and Lake Shore Drive this weekend.
We love having this contract because it provides a safe place for people to park while they enjoy Lolla and raises money for our work to improve biking, walking and transit in Chicagoland. Last year we parked 700 bikes, and we are expecting to do at least that many again this weekend.
Shifts are four hours long, and in addition to getting to overhear the band at the Bud Light stage from across the street, we buy a meal (sandwich-ish) for everyone who does a shift.
We need the most help on Saturday night (6:30-10:30) and could use a more people for the Sunday shifts (10:30am-2:30pm; 2:30pm-6:30pm; 6:30pm-10:30pm) as well.
So if you'd be willing to take quick a break from the Cycle Messenger World Championship excitement to help us out, please shoot me an email at bikevalet@activetrans.org.
Thanks 'linkers!

Woo hoo! Thanks Vitaliy and everyone else who emailed us. And if anyone else sees this and is interested in helping out, the more the merrier!
The bike valet corral is already up and running! This morning we set up on the northwest corner of Monroe and Lake Shore Drive. We'll be open from 10:30am-10:30pm today, tomorrow and Sunday.

Monroe was open but with some lanes blocked. Sidewalk on the north side is open but fenced off from the street. Of course they shut down Lolla for the storm but it might reopen if it blows through
Yes, on the north side of the street which is where the bike valet was set up anyway.
