There is an old fashioned, bike wheel swallowing grate in the bike lane in the 4700 block of West Lawrence Avenue. It's already caused injury to one cyclist. Let's prevent it from happening again by putting pressure on CDOT to replace it.

How should the pressure be applied? It would be great to see things like that fixed. I would also like to see the Chicago ave river bridge covered with some plates for cyclists...and there's a huge mediocre-filled street repair on Milwaukee & Maplewood.
I agree that we need to speak up. You could start here with CDOT. http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/depts/cdot.emailform.html
Perfect!
I sent an email to the CDOT link above. It was forwarded to Water Management. Here is the response from 5/15:
"First we need to have a more exact address of the problem, second this is the first time it has been reported to us. If you can respond back with a better location we will have the grate replaced."
I replied with the address 4738 West Lawrence.
Per the link in the thread header, they knew in 2006 they needed to change it.
Reviving an old thread. Does the grate still need to be replaced? This sounds like a job for... Urban Repair Squad.
