Monday Night Ride?

Yep, that was us on the monday night ride. Meets every Monday @ 10 PM by the Lincoln statue behind the Chicago History Museum. Rolls out at 11 or so. Come on out!

There used to be a member here that posted the MNR events. Was he the 'ALL CAPS GUY'?

Monday night I was riding back from Wrigley Field on Clark St, and came across this group as I was heading Southbound and they Northbound.  Problem was that they had taken over both lanes of traffic and despite my loud yells and ringing my bell and flashing my light - they could care less and kept coming at me to the point of multiple near collisions.  That's not right.  There is something to be said for respect for other cyclists and this was total disregard.  Explain to me why I am expected to get out of your way?  At the least you could stick to your lane of traffic.  Share the road, don't hog it.  So many people complain about belligerent car drivers, but what about belligerent cyclists?

As much as I wish I could offer some reasoning or counterpoint, you are 100% correct. As the ride has grown, it's attracted lots of people from all subcultures of cycling. Certainly the largest demographic represented is what I will call the fixie foo. No matter how much we beg to stay right, to let traffic by, to behave, it's all lost. I used to cork and then ride back to the front of the ride while herding people into the right lane. It made no difference. It doesn't even matter anymore if here are cars, which is frightening to me.

Since they won't, I apologize on their behalf.

It's ON for tonight.
MNR Labor day/nite Ride.
Meets 10pm. Lincoln Statue. North and Clark Aves. (1601n.Clark)
Rolls ~ 11pm. . . .
